Iva and I looking down on Vienna |
Vienna,
Austria |

Me at Shonbrun, the Imperial Palace |
Lots of tourists go through here to see
memories of Imperial Grandeur |
A Shonbrun Fountain |
The Palm Conservatory |
Guarding the Imperial gates |
Carriages outside of the
Palace |
Vienna church which was relatively
close to the Palaces. The weather was perfect the entire week I
was on the trip. |
Iva and I went for a way
long bike ride along the Donau river which runs through Vienna, a great
day.... |
Stephansdom is the large
Cathedral in the heart of the city. Managed to see a great organ
concert here on a sultry Wednesday evening, wow. |
Woman obsessed with her SMS
cell phone. |
In the heart of the city
around the corner from the Stephansdom |
Iva, part of the family and
me |
Again, in the main square
near Stephansdom |
A lamp (no kidding...) |
This is a 360 degree
panorama of the square in the center of Vienna (includes Stephansdom) |
Karlovy
Vary (Carlsbad), Czech Republic
|
| Right,
Karlovy Vary (Carsbad) from high on a hillside. |
|
Carlsbad is not a large city but it is famous
for it's mineral hotsprings which abound. It's also where part of
my family hails from. |
|
Left,
Carlsbad down by the river, here you're looking in at the center of the
city. |
| Above,
mustard fields as we zipped through the Czech countryside.
|
Hops
fields which contribute to the Czech fame for quality beers.
|
|
|
A local.. |
More Carlsbad |
Carlsbad at night |
The city center |
The hotsprings
|
A horsedrawn view of the city... |
In front of the hotsprings. |
One of the steep streets
of Carlsbad |
My dad's apartment building. |

My half sister's Mom, quite the character...
|
Me, our dad and Iva |
Another street scene |
This image struck me as so
appropriate. It is on a mountain overlooking Carlsbad and so represented
what I saw while there. The old sitting side by side with the very
new each vying for attention. It's a nation in transition and there
is a great deal of pain from the economic shock the nation has sustained
since democratic reforms. |
|
Prague, Czech Republic
|
| |
|
And
so we drove on and managed to squeeze a day into the itenerary before flying
down the Autobahn back to Vienna. |
|
|
A small panorama of the city of Prague |
A series of street scenes
as we wound our way through this ancient baroque city, the last surviving
one of Europe. |
Talk about Tourists, yikes....they were there
in swarms... |
| |
|
A series of shots from the inner city and
around Karlsbrucke (the bridge). |
|
|
|
The giant cathedral at a high point of the
city. Incredible. |
A parting shot, the stained glass was, as
you can see, amazing. |
